We were talking about an Mio I got. It clearly has a bridge rectifier so AC voltage will be fine. Thought I would upload a bunch of info I got with the Mio maybe someone will find it interesting. I also uploaded a copy of a pic of my Mio board.
I brought up the question of a reliable scsi to ide board. Does anyone have any suggestions? Here is a pic of the one the seller was using. I do have the ide to cd card board. Just need the converter board.
Well the seller did show me it working all together. I just have to get around to making some room to set it up. There isn’t any free room on my desk currently.
Now a dumb question, why is this scsi to ide so expensive? There is definitely active chips on the board but it seems so out of line.
But then again I once went looking for those white faced Mitsubishi quad 5 1/4 drives a while back, I found them but the place wanted like $800 a piece for them!?!?!?! Wtf?!?!?
My guess... it's because if you're looking for one, you're looking for something very specific. If you're looking for something like... SCSI to CF/SD, that's already out there... so you're not likely to get a SCSI to IDE just to use an IDE CF/SD solution. If you just want newer/cheaper spinny platters, you're probably going to go for a SCSI to SATA solution (as those drives are newer, right?) so if you're looking for SCSI to IDE, you're looking for something very specific for a very specific reason.....
So you're going to bend over and take it if you want it.
Found a similar thing for awhile with MFM/RLL to SD/CF emulators, but the prices on those are coming down as enthusiasts are coming up with better solutions (though still high). But the market for SCSI to IDE isn't at that point yet where people are looking to make "new" cheaper solutions for it.
I see you got the 1.4.1 firmware. This is Warerat's fw which can connect directly to SCSI devices... no bridge controller board needed. But, it won't work with the older ST-506 drives and the bridge board setup. I have firmware for this older setup if you need it.
