Many of you know that I have been messing around with testing my MIOs for years... nothing better to do. About a month ago, on my last MIO (the MetalGuy66 MIO), I replaced the 7805 Voltage Regulator (VR1) with one of the newer lo-temp versions of this chip which seemed to be OK at the time and it did not give me any trouble that I know of... and it was cool(er)!
But about a week later, based on doctor's orders, I put the original 7805 chip back in the system, It still works the same as near as I can tell.
So today... I decided to add a little fan over top of the heat sink because the 7805 gets so hot it will burn your finger. Here's my little fan...
Cute ain't it...
I power it with a Meanwell 5vDC 3 amp power supply which also powers my ZuluScsi Mini card which is hooked to the MIO (seen on right side of pic.)
So far it is working as well as can be expected.
OK some labels...
First the gay FUJI...
And then the legend... MIO.
Damn... I just noticed the label is crooked... my bad.
Deep into the bowels of a MIO test...
That’s pretty pretty pretty good… not sure a 3D printed case would be better.. slap a Fuji logo on that thing and Bam! You got it…
So... I am basically terrible at building shit... no skills or expertise in that area at all. Most of my "inventions" look like Rube Goldberg stuff (although Rube had much more talent than me.)
That having been said, I decided I needed to put my new ZuluScsi in some type of case. Since it came with a 3.5" bracket, a light bulb went off. "I can put it in a 3.5" drive case that I buy off of ebay." But then the real Goldberg set in and I remembered that I have a bunch of 3.5" drive shipping / storage cases laying around here. I decided to repurpose one of those since I don't have a 3d printer (I would be a disaster with one of those things.)
It isn't pretty (yet) but I will clean up the rough edges on a rainy day. I just wanted to get it working.
Note the green activity LED shines right thru the case...
And now I got my ZuluScsi v1.2 today and started working with it tonight. It seems to work even better than the Zulu Mini v1.0. It is definitely not a Mini as you can see from the video. Thanks to Amis for making the video available...

I just ordered the ZuluScsi v1.2 50pin card for testing... what the hell... it's only money.
Dig on that SuluScsi Mini Card!
Nice!. 🙂
