Josh Renaud (kirkman) was nice enough to make a short video of his experience logging on to DarkForce! on April Fool's Day. 🙂 https://breakintochat.com/blog/aprilfool25

I had a few issues logging in to the Cheeze Daddy BBS yesterday. It actually let me complete the call but as you can see, the screens were all scrambled. This was with SyncTerm v1.7b on a Win10 box.

Hextracker playing the "Movurbody" and "Cortouka" mods on my Atari STacy. I have a small modification that brings the audio signal out via an RCA jack, then connected to an LG Meridian Xboom! box. SyncTerm Update! It now supports Atari VT52. As of the latest nightly release (1.7b), users can change the palette. Simply put an entry like this (this is the one I am currently using): Palette =16777199,16711680,4215804,0 At the end of the BBS entry that you want to change the pallete on, in the "SYNCTERM.LST" file found (on my system) in: C:\Users\darkl\AppData\Roaming\SyncTERM\syncterm.lst These are hexadecimals, translated into decimal, then used. I used this website to grab a color and it's hexadecimal value for my screen: https://www.rapidtables.com/web/color/RGB_Color.html The only change I needed was for green, which is entry 3 in the list. The author of SyncTerm has stated that in the 2.0 release he will make this better/easier. This is what my DarkForce! BBS logon using SyncTerm set to VT52 looks like now:

So I had a slight disagreement with some other Atari people on Facebook today. As most of you know know, it's the 40th anniversary of our beloved Atari machines. So a post was made on Facebook covering this, and also the Nintendo game system. 2 pictures were posted to go along with the article, one for the Amiga and one for the ST. I've got no problem with the Amiga being there - after all, it and the ST were released in the same calendar year, with the ST coming out a few months earlier than the Amiga. What I mentioned in a comment was that I wished they had used a better picture to represent the ST. I'll post both pictures here so you can see what I'm talking about. Now the ST's hi-res screens are great. Sharp, clear and crisp - perfect for word processing, DTP, sequencing, etc. However, it would have been just as easy to show the ST displaying a colorful picture like the Amiga did. Anyone who is not familiar with the Amiga and ST and looks at these 2 pictures...well, draw your own conclusions as to what they would think. Also, price isn't mentioned or that the Amiga is showing an extra external floppy drive that didn't come standard with the A1000 when it was sold. I purchased my first ST and it looked pretty much like the ST in the picture except that it did have the color display, I got it all for just under $1000 (999.00). The Amiga only came with the base unit - no monitor and no external floppy drive. At the time I bought my ST, that base Amiga was going for just under $1500.00. What you're seeing onscreen would probably go for over $2000.00 at the time. Anyway, I just thought that the layout in the article could have been done differently. Am I just being argumentative here? 🙂

Yep, that's the way I see it. 🙂 PS Although they could've/should've put the 8bit line in there too.

I just bought an internal Ultrasatan model from Lotharek and there's been some changes made. A couple of years ago I bought an internal model for my Mega STe. I printed out a 3D replacement hard drive bay cover for it and it's worked great. However, the new model I just got has had the mounting holes location changed and the SD-Card bays are a few millimeters closer together. Point being, none of the 3D replacement covers or faceplates I have (or have seen on Thingiverse) will match up correctly now. I don't remember seeing anyone mention this anywhere so just a heads-up... (Guess Lotharek has done it again, just like with the 8bit stuff)

Anyone else having troubles with SyncTerm v1.3? Here, when I'm on the 8bit Atari boards, I can't use <control> F or G to get the usual ATASCII slash and backslash that I usually use in my signature. My signature usually looks like this: /\ Dark><Lord \/ But with the " / " and " \ " in the ATASCII form. Heck, on some of the boards I can't do a backslash " \ " at all. 🙄 With the Cellar BBS (ST based) I can't logon now because it won't accept the <enter> for me any more. See the picture below: So is anyone else seeing these kinds of problems? Thanks.

I need some 3d print projects done. I don't have a 3d printer and my usual local source is currently unavailable. Can anyone recommend a good company I can use? Thanks much.

Got a guy over on DarkForce! that seems to be having a lot of trouble trying to download any files. If possible can someone try SyncTerm with the MacOS and see what their results are? I don't have a Mac so I'm at a dead end here. This would be at either 38400 or 19200. I download with SyncTerm with either Kubuntu Linux (laptop) or my Windows 10 box and downloads work absolutely fine with no errors. Here's a screenshot of what he says happens every time he tries: Thanks everyone...

This is my Atari STacy, equipped with the RGB2HDMI mod., showing Anima's wonderful Spectrum 512 pictures. Not too shabby for a 16 color computer. Good stuff... 🙂 Atari STacy Displaying Spectrum Pictures,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbHhlOskuc8

As anyone knows who has ever played D&D with me, I'm big on melee characters using hammers. 🙂 So this I thought this video, which has nothing to do with D&D but about hammers and their quality, was very cool. Funniest thing I've seen all day. You have to be a little bit familiar with current events (Israel detonating thousands of Hezbollah's pagers and walkie-talkies) as well as the history of Islamic leaders, seeking to motivate would be suicide bombers, inducing them to commit murder in the name of Allah, quoting Islamic sources, which promise 72 Virgins in Paradise to those who kill and are killed in Jihad for Allah), to understand this. With that in mind... 🙂

Not a fan of emulation - everyone knows that so there's no need for me to repeat it, ad nauseum. But...I know some of you are interested in it and it seems that getting a BBS to run under something like Hatari is apparently very difficult to do. With that in mind, people might want to follow this thread at Atari-Forum: https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=43575
